The "Dead Stars" by Paz Marquez Benitez was remarkably astonishing. She used arduous lexicon terms in writing every line of her story which made it more interesting to read. Setting the right mood and creating imaginative thinker as they go over the story.
The story revolves around a man, Alfredo Salazar, who was having a great dilemma- choosing what he wants to do or what he has to do. Since the time was set upon on the social status and their reputation as judgement of the society. He was already betrothed for four years with Esperanza. Until he met Julia, a young girl from out-of-town whom he shared memories and started "neighboring" while flickering feelings for her- forbidden love as to what it was called. He decided to pursued the marriage with Esperanza. It gave me a thought that if it is destined to be yours, it will be yours; if not, then not. People tend to push things that cannot be in life. We can hurt or either way, we can get hurt. There was a thought of mine about infatuation. Infatuation over love can be a hard to choose from. A temporary happiness that can lead to eternal sadness; an assumption came up. I cannot tell if Alfredo was happy in choosing his marriage over the person he loved at that time since it wasn't stated. Leaving a thought in my head that we think the feeling is still there, then in a snap of a moment where we faced the present, the memories are still there but the emotions and feelings have faded away long ago without knowingly know why.
